THE WARDROBE Vol. 30: Night Clothing Market
We’ve all had that feeling now and then, you look at your over-stuffed wardrobe and you know you have nothing to wear. Come on, we all do once a while! Looking at my wardrobe the other day, I knew that I needed to buy something new. However, after a long day at work, there’s no time for shopping. Looking at my Facebook account to see if those cool people I stalk go to yet more cool events I have never heard off, my eye catches the night clothing market event in Platoon Kunsthalle. Problem solved – I knew I had to go!
Platoon Kunsthalle is designed as an experimental space for creatives. The Kunsthalle hosts worskhops, events and art projects. The building opened in 2012 and consists of 34 standard containers. So, once in a while there is the clothing market for all the creative designers in Berlin. Great news for me and my empty shopping basket.
The night clothing market (THE WARDROBE Vol. 30) started at 6pm at the Platoon Kunsthalle, perfect for people with a job or other commitments. You will find in between all the pretty and old buildings in the neighborhood, a big, dark container. Walking inside, it felt like a private event for fashionistas, but this is an open event. Different designers were showcasing their amazing vintage and secondhand pieces. The container was darkly lit, and had a club-vibe, complete with a DJ playing some nice beats. If you are looking for something more original, a little different, I suggest you have to go there. See-through bags, leather belts, shirts, secondhand dresses and jewelry, you can all find it there.
Need a new haircut? Go to the night clothing market. There’s a nice hairdresser on hand to cut and style your hair. I spy a young women sat there with wine in her hand, looking at herself in the mirror. The hairdresser cuts her hair while she was chatting away cheerfully. The vibe felt really good in the hall, people relaxed and browsing at their leisure. For the people who like to spend an hour or so on clothing, jewelry and other accessoires: this place is for you. After an hour, I had seen enough and my drink was empty, so it was time to go. Will I go there next time? Yes and you should too. There are also food and drinks you can enjoy and keep your shopping energy up. For original pieces, innovative designers and a laidback shopping atmosphere, the night market is an excellent option.
