Language Transfer is Set to Take Berlin by Storm
The revolutionary approach to learning a language has a new home on Berlin's Beusselstraße. For four years, Mihalis Eleftheriou, the man behind Language Transfer, has been researching and designing language courses with stints in Argentina, Cyprus, and Egypt. During this time, Language Transfer offered free online courses and language workshops, and developed their website – all without a fixed space or income. However, the approach was so popular and so effective that Mihalis decided to move to Berlin to create LT's first school and course creation centre.
As Mihalis says, "If you are tired of not understanding how a language works, and just want someone to make it simple and wonderful for you because you can sense deep down that it must be – well, that's us!" And he has certainly hit the ground running. Having only been in Berlin since November, he has already given free workshops in German, Spanish, Greek, Turkish and Arabic script. The feedback from participants has been nothing short of astounding so now it's time to keep the momentum going.
Mihalis has ambitious plans for Language Transfer. Having found the fantastic space at Beusselstraße, he's currently looking for collaborators to help the project grow. He aims to keep providing free public workshops, while sustaining activities with a limited amount of competitively priced intensive workshops in a variety of languages. As Mihalis lives and breathes language, he's looking for like-minded individuals to co-operate with. First on his agenda are English teachers who are fluent in German with the goal of creating an “English for German speakers” course. A language tandem café is coming very soon, and many other cultural activities and projects will also be offered.
There are several ways the public can get involved. Of course, as Language Transfer is an unfunded, unaffiliated and independent organisation, donations are always welcome. There will be one paid workshop every month which will also help sustain the many free activities LT offers, but be sure to get in early as places are limited and courses book out quickly.
As one participant said, “If there has ever been a mind-bogglingly fantastic, 100% effective, quick and smartly-intensive language course (and, mind you, a completely free one!), then here it is. The Thinking Method, as they dub it themselves. I'm in love with Language Transfer!”
So, watch this space. Language Transfer is set to take Berlin by storm.
